Teorías implícitas en estudiantes de secundaria acerca de la competencia comunicativa escrita
    (2021-10-05)
The implicit knowledge that high school students possess is key to understanding how they develop written communicative competence. The teaching approaches in schools established four ways of conceiving writing, from the most reproductive to the most epistemic. Therefore, the importance of this research lies in investigating the bidirectional relationship between practices and conceptions of writing. The general objective of this study is to describe the students' knowledge, which form their implicit theories and which unconsciously guide their learning activities in relation to the production of written texts. The results indicate that second-grade high school students from a Lima school show a conception of written communicative competence that is closer to a traditional teaching approach to writing. Therefore, the teaching of the competency approach of the National Curriculum is not having a major effect with regard to the development of written communicative competence as such.

Forming and transforming: Critical reflection in the university education of professionals
    (Centro Universitario da FEI, 2024-08-12)
In universities, a key challenge is to integrate practical work knowledge with theoretical knowledge to adapt to the changing demands of the labor market and society. In this context, the objective is to explore how the integration of theory and practice in master's programs focused on formative professions can facilitate transformative learning, enabling students to develop critical and reflective competencies applicable in both professional and personal contexts. Theoretical Framework: The research is grounded in Habermas's theory of communicative action, transformative learning, and training-action-research approaches, addressing concepts such as critical reflexivity, self-formation, and the integration of practical and theoretical experiences. Method: A qualitative methodology with an action-research design, termed training-action-research, was adopted. Twenty-five students from a master's program in education participated. Data collection involved participant observation and practice analysis, focusing on critical reflection and rational dialogue about work and training experiences. Results and Discussion: The alternation between theory and practice facilitated the development of reflective and critical competencies in the students. The study highlights implications, identified relationships, discrepancies, and limitations. Research Implications: The results can enhance teacher training, promote continuous professional development, and implement reflective and critical practices in educational and professional settings. Originality/Value: The study presents an innovative approach to professional university education, emphasizing critical reflexivity and transformative self-formation, with potential impacts on teacher training and professional practice.

Enlazados con la primera infancia: sistematización de una experiencia de responsabilidad social universitaria en contexto de pandemia
(Catholic University of the Most Holy Conception, 2023-07-31)
The article systematizes a University Social Responsibility project carried out by students of Early Childhood Education and Audiovisual Communication programs of a private university in Lima. The initiative "Linked with early childhood: playing and learning at home with the family" won the USR Student Initiatives Fund in response to COVID-19 in 2020 and aimed to promote the development of pedagogical strategies and digital resources for an adequate interaction in learning activities between teachers and pre-school children, in the context of remote education. The survey was used to identify teachers' learning and resources' implementation. This experience strengthened the students their leadership skills, committed participation, connection with the environment, and decision-making in the face of a crisis situation for the benefit of early childhood. In addition, the improvement of the teachers' digital skills for the development of interactive classes was observed. Keys words: Early childhood, University Social Responsibility, Interactions, Distance education.

Sources of perceived social support, school adjustment and academic success in Peruvian secondary education
    (Taylor & Francis, 2026-01-01)
Social support has relevant effects on adjustment in the educational setting, and in turn, this school adjustment is important to obtain academic success. The aim of this research is to analyse the relationships of the perceived social support from family, teachers and friends with the students' school adjustment, and their academic success, while controlling for age, gender and type of school in Secondary school students. The research is a cross-sectional survey design. The sample was 906 Peruvian students. A structural model found that social support dimensions, gender and type of school predicted school adjustment. Academic success was directly and positively predicted by school adjustment. Girls perceived more school adjustment than boys. Students in private schools perceived more adjustment than students in public schools.

Professional credibility cycles in education: Constructing trust and expertise in a regulated state school system
    (SAGE Publishing, 2026-05-01)
Experts must adapt to immediate circumstances when managing impressions and be able to reassert credibility and exercise authority when performing professionalism. A credible professional is constructed, applied, and recognized locally as well as relationally, particularly within the context of careers in bureaucratic structures. Few studies investigate professional credibility through processual approaches assessing experts' testimony and practice in situ as they manage their careers over a period of time. We examine the cycles of professional credibility in a rural elementary state school in Brazil, focusing on how credibility is constructed, applied, and recognized in highly regulated bureaucratic systems. We use the “credit cycle” framework from science and technology studies to analyze education professionals' positions, career paths, and group dynamics. Our ethnographic approach included participant observation, document analysis, audio-visual data collection, and interviews with education workers. We used event-related phases and narrative analysis to analyze data and uncover insights into professional credibility, expanding the concept of the credit cycle beyond laboratories to include primary education professionals and managers. We consider how individual professional credibility is enacted by producing report cards and educational projects within what is a highly regulated educational system. What is “critical” in our research is a critique of the approach to the bureaucratization of professions that suggests that the outcome is “de-professionalization” or “proletarianization.” Our research findings highlight professional credibility's relational, transactional, dynamic, and cyclical nature and offer practical insights for understanding and enhancing expertise in bureaucratic settings. Future studies should apply the credit cycle to other professional contexts.
