Ricardo Palma, José Dávila Condemarín and the Quixote

In 1905, on the fourth centenary of the first part of the famous Cervantes novel, Palma wrote “Sobre el Quijote en América”, a reminiscent and bibliographic article that the author claims is not a tradition and discovers the origin of the “very curious story” told in 1877 by José Dávila Condemarín, respected civil servant, about the arrival in Lima of the first Quixote.
