Impacto de los niveles de educación sobre el empleo en la región Huánuco, Perú, período 2000-2019

Objective. To estimate the impact of education levels on the employment status of the economically active population (EAP) of the Huánuco region, Peru, period 2000-2019. Methods. The research was applied, explanatory and had a non-experimental design. The human capital theory was adopted as a theoretical framework and a logistic regression model (logit) was estimated using secondary data from the National Household Survey (ENAHO) on the condition of being employed or not (endogenous variable) and the levels of education (exogenous variable) of the EAP. Results. It was found that the probability of being employed of individuals in the EAP who have only primary, secondary and higher education increased by 3.2, 8.0 and 9.2 percentage points, respectively. Conclusions. Individuals in the EAP with only primary education have the lowest probability of being employed, and those with secondary education have a moderate probability. Meanwhile, individuals with higher education have the highest probability of being employed.
