BIOCOMERCIO Y AGROINDUSTRIA PARA LA CONSERVACIÓN AMBIENTAL EN LA AMAZONÍA

The Amazon is facing a socio-environmental crisis due to deforestation, extractivism, and poor land-use planning.In response, biotrade and agribusiness have emerged as alternatives for reconciling biodiversity conservation with economic and social development.The objective of this chapter was to analyze the progress of both strategies in the Amazon based on scientific literature published between 2015 and 2026.Through a systematic review based on PRISMA 2020, open-access articles indexed in Scopus and SpringerLink were examined.The results show that biotrade and agribusiness generate income, strengthen local capacities, and promote the circular economy.However, barriers persist, such as power imbalances in supply chains, institutional weakness, territorial conflicts, technical limitations, and state absence.It is concluded that, although these initiatives are promising drivers for sustainable development in the Amazon, their scalability and equity depend on strengthening governance, inclusive public policies, innovation, and effective community participation, ensuring that regulatory frameworks or market dynamics do not exclude small-scale producers.
