From the New to the Other in Heidegger’s Thought: Convergence of Beginning and Ending and the Matter of Contradiction

This article starts from the need to reflect on the experience of the new in human history and finds in Heidegger’s thinking about the beginning and about the other beginning, particularly, a reflexive path that allows us to clear this experience. From the analysis of the intimate relationship between the other beginning and the first beginning, a kind of “identity” between the ending and the beginning will be shown, which will confront us with the concept of contradiction, from the history thought by Heidegger. According to criticism and completion of metaphysics, the place of contradiction in the history of being will be considered and the tension between logical thinking and the presentation of being will be underlined. This will lead us, finally, to highlight history as a permanent beginning, rather than as a process traversed by innovation and progress.
