Resumen
This study addresses the design of an ergonomic bassinet, named WAWA, aimed at preventing Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and plagiocephaly in infants aged 0 to 3 months. This design seeks to ensure a safe sleeping position (on the back) by reducing the risks of suffocation and falls through a portable and compact structure. The research identifies the central problem as the high neonatal mortality caused by improper sleeping positions and proposes solutions through industrial design focused on child safety. The study is based on user analysis, ergonomic testing, and consultations with experts, integrating lightweight materials such as cotton and high-density foam to maximize the baby’s safety and comfort. With this approach, the goal is not only to reduce risks but also to contribute to the well-being of first-time mothers by providing them with greater peace of mind in caring for their children.
