Resumen

Usability has been recognized as a fundamental element in ensuring the quality of a software. Moreover, the lack of adequate usability can be decisive in the success or failure of the system. This study focuses on the web platform responsible for managing curriculum proposals at a university in Peru. It is acknowledged that the current platform lacks usability considerations, leading users to rely on manuals, technical assistance, or personal notes for operation, which is non-intuitive and prone to being forgotten over time. Therefore, the main objective of this project is to develop a design proposal aimed at improving the platform’s usability. Initially, user evaluations of the current platform are conducted using the Think-aloud technique, along with interviews to understand user needs and define required usability guidelines. Subsequently, canvases such as User Persona, Empathy Map, User Journey Map, and Product Vision Board are employed to investigate user experience and identify their needs. With this collected information, a high-fidelity prototype is developed and tested with users to assess usability improvements. The results establish usability guidelines for curriculum proposal management, emphasizing the importance of periodically updating user requirements. A high-fidelity prototype is created with enhancements in element layout and icon clarification, aiming to enhance user effectiveness and satisfaction, directly addressing identified needs. In conclusion, user testing proves beneficial in addressing user dissatisfaction, involving them throughout the project development.
