Resumen
This article analyses the evolution of the morphology of families in Peru in the different stages of the demographic transition, in a comparative approach between urban and rural areas. To do so, it takes as indicators the composition, size and headship of households, from the population censuses from 1972 to 2017, and from the Household Surveys from 2000 to 2020. The results show a diversification of the nuclear model, an increase in single-person and female-headed households, and a decrease in the size of households, with differences within both areas of residence.
