Resumen
The present research work develops the application of discrete event simulation in a public, urban and massive transportation system of BRT type (Bus Rapid Transit) in Metropolitan Lima, Perú. The objective of the improvement proposal is reduce waiting times at the stations and improve the quality of service, through the implementation of more buses along the trunk route. It should be noted that the long queues at the main and transfer stations in "Corredor 1" are one of the main problems affecting the service, specifically in the morning rush hours. The methodology to be followed was to carry out a diagnosis of the current situation of the process, to then identify the tool to use, in this case the simulation of discrete events, which later led to the construction of an optimization model based on simulation to reduce the times and queue lengths at rush hour. Finally, the results obtained revealed that queues and system times were reduced by 74% and 33% respectively, as well as through the use of ratios such as NPV and IRR, it was determined that the proposal was viable.
