Resumen

The article proposes an optimization model for the design of cycle networks and a study in Salvador. Given the significant increase in active modes of transport, such as cycling, in response to pandemic restrictions, the research aims to promote sustainable urban mobility. The methodology uses a mathematical model to optimize the design of networks, considering construction and maintenance costs, available budget, and the maximum distance that a cyclist is willing to travel. The study area comprises three contiguous neighborhoods: Tororó, Nazaré, and Barris. The results indicate the cycle network’s optimal configuration, connecting the Travel Generating Hub (PGV) to the city’s existing network. Implementing this infrastructure can provide an additional alternative for transport users, connecting the Lapa bus terminal to Avenue Garibaldi.
