Resumen
Due to their high cost, it is not often possible to acquire a large computing infrastructure dedicated to the execution of computationally intensive applications in university environments in developing countries. Drawing from the resources available in the university computer labs themselves, the problem can be solved by means of Desktop Grid Computing. We describe the Legion System, which allows the management of multiple projects using a computer-intensive Desktop Grid Computing implementation on the BOINC infrastructure. With the Legion solution, researchers in different areas will have access, through a web user interface, to a broader computational resource base within university campuses, hiding the complexity of the grid computing system to the end user.
