Resumen
In this communication I briefly delve into the Shawi epistemological repertoire around the linguistic phenomenon. Drawing from Favaron Peyón’s work (2024) which aims to give voice to different poetic, rhetoric and theoretical reflections around the concept «speech» among Amerindian peoples, I present a preliminary exploration to the Shawi concept nanan «speech, language, word», and its profound connection to icaros, one of their most intimate manifestations of art and knowledge. By examining insights shared by master and sage Rafael Chanchari Pizuri, I approach the etymology of icaro as well as its discursive structure. This endeavor represents an initial stride toward a dialogue between contemporary Western linguistics and what I dare to dub Shawi linguistics and philosophy of language.
