Resumen
Ground failure occurred throughout much of the region shaken by the 23 June 2001 southern Peru earthquake was discussed. Ground failure had a significant impact on earthquake rescue and recovery efforts as it had the marked effect on the transportation infrastructure of the region. It was found that landslides were the most common type of ground failure, followed by seismic compression and liquefication.
