Resumen
This overview chapter sets the premise for critically exploring the assumption that adherence to the principles of development co-operation effectiveness outlined by the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC) leads to improved development outcomes. The chapter introduces the analytical framework and methodology underpinning the remaining chapters in this volume, detailing the novel adaptation of the "mediator-moderator" model to examine the various factors shaping development partnerships and outcomes. Synthesising the critical insights from the case studies and thematic analyses, the chapter proposes two potential pathways for the Global Partnership: a "regular" approach to refine established norms and processes of effective development cooperation and a more "radical" approach aimed at reinventing the GPEDC agenda.
