Resumen
The main aim of this cross sectional study was to identify the determining factors of financial well-being and to consider its relation to quality of life in a sample of professional workers of Guayaquil, Ecuador. The scales and subscales used in thee study were: satisfaction with life scale, incharge financial distress/financial well-being scale, health-related quality of life, depression, anxiety and stress scales, and hedonistic behavior. Correlation coefficients and generalized linear models were used for the estimations. A positive and significant correlation between life satisfaction and financial well-being was obtained. The determining factors of financial well-being were income, number of children living at home, variables related to physical and mental health, and hedonistic behavior. The main conclusion of this study is that the results can serve as evidence for the design of local public policies that contribute to workers’ financial well-being.
