N2 - The paper discusses the issue of air pollution and its impact on human health and the environment. In Peru, the Ministry of the Environment (MINAM) sets environmental quality standards, and the Environmental Assessment and Oversight Agency (OEFA) conducts environmental surveillance to monitor air quality. OEFA found that PM10 concentration in the industrial areas of Ventanilla and Mi Peru exceeded air quality standards in 2018. They recommended continuous monitoring. However, the equipment used by OEFA is complex, large, and costly: thus, permanent monitoring is difficult. This paper proposes a cyber-physical system that uses low-cost particulate matter sensors to monitor PM10 and PM2.5 concentrations and send information to an IoT platform. The proposed system would provide an efficient, cost-effective solution to the challenges of continuous environmental monitoring posed by OEFA's current equipment.
