Resumen

This paper describes the design of a data network composed of long-distance wireless links that will be implemented on the margins of the Santiago River, in the department of Amazonas (Peruvian Amazonia). This network will provide Internet access service to public institutions in thirteen rural native communities and will also provide the capacity for future implementation of 4G mobile telephony service in those localities. Long-distance wireless networks have proven to be a rapidly deployable and cost-effective technology for bringing basic telecommunications services to rural populations.
