N2 - The increasing relevance of data as a strategic asset has compelled financial institutions to adopt data governance frameworks that ensure the availability, quality, and security of information. This study examines the contribution of data governance to business innovation within the financial sector. A mixed-methods approach was applied, combining a bibliometric analysis of scientific literature with a survey of 3 7 data specialists from financial institutions in Peru. The findings suggest that structured data governance practices contribute to improved decision-making, regulatory compliance, and the development of innovative financial products and services. The research identifies key governance mechanisms, such as data strategy definition, quality monitoring, and regulatory alignment, that are instrumental in improving organizational adaptability and competitiveness. The study concludes that data governance not only supports operational efficiency but also acts as a driver of digital and business transformation.
