Resumen
This study aimed to analyze the representations of the Amazonian Indians and the rubber conflict in the texts and images of the Peruvian newspaper La Felpa (1907-1908), published by Benjamín Saldaña Rocca. Thus, in the first part, we examined two columns, entitled “La ola de sangre” and “Los indios del Putumayo”. In the second part, we analyze six illustrations reproduced in some issues of La Felpa to review the paradigms of the time and demonstrate how Robuchon’s photographs inspired the illustrations. Our proposal lies in offering a reading on the importance of collecting critical voices about a dramatic period in our history. We consider this vital to reconstruct the decolonial discourse on the rubber era and on the ideological reproduction that was present in the written media.
