MPI-EVA – PUCP interdisciplinary research program on Amazonian linguistic diversity (third phase)

The project intends -this year- to continue and expand the collaborative research program on South American linguistic diversity, jointly developed by the Department of Linguistic and Cultural Evolution (DLCE) at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology (MPI-EVA) and the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). Our plan for the third phase of this research collaboration includes five research lines, each with specific outcomes and deliverables. These lines consolidate some of the initiatives established in the earlier phases which began in 2021 and introduce new, promising directions for a sustainable research program that will benefit both institutions. By fostering the application of MPI-EVA methodologies to South American languages, promoting world-class linguistic research at PUCP, and supporting the study and revitalization of endangered Amazonian languages in Peru, this program aims to make a lasting impact in the field.

Continuar y expandir el programa de investigación colaborativa sobre la diversidad lingüística sudamericana, desarrollado conjuntamente por el Instituto Max Planck para la Antropología Evolutiva (MPI-EVA) y la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). El plan incluye cinco líneas de investigación, cada una con resultados y entregables específicos. Estas líneas consolidan algunas de las iniciativas establecidas en 2021 e introducen nuevas y prometedoras direcciones para un programa de investigación sostenible que beneficiará a ambas instituciones.

Mediante el fomento de la aplicación de las metodologías MPI-EVA a las lenguas sudamericanas, la promoción de la investigación lingüística de clase mundial en la PUCP, y el apoyo al estudio y la revitalización de las lenguas amazónicas en peligro de extinción en el Perú, este programa tiene como objetivo hacer un impacto duradero en el campo.
