KEY FACTORS IN THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND ACADEMIC ETHICS IN PERUVIAN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

This quantitative study aimed to examine the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on the academic ethics of Peruvian university students. To this end, a structural equation model (SEM) was applied to a sample of 406 students from six universities. The results showed that attitudes toward AI have a direct impact on academic ethics (β =0.33) and that indirect effects are attributable to conditioning factors (β =0.16). Like-wise, the perception of benefits is positively associated with the adoption of ethical practices (β =0.21), whereas trust in its formative use evidenced an unexpected negative effect (β =-0.03). The model exhibited a satisfactory fit (CFI =0.981, GFI =0.977, RMSEA =0.066), underscoring the need to develop strategies aimed at promoting the ethical use of AI in higher education.
