Resumen

This document aims to provide a bibliometric analysis on the research advances regarding the use of seismic isolation systems in bridges worldwide. The bibliometric analysis was conducted by searching for documents in the Scopus database, where an initial volume of 713 documents was obtained, which, after a second filter, were reduced to 669 documents from 1987 to 2023. At an early stage, a frequency analysis regarding the types of documents (papers, conference papers, book chapters, etc.), affiliations by country, by study area, and language was conducted. Subsequently, in a second stage, an analysis was conducted considering four categories such as countries, authors, journals, and institutions. In each of them, an exhaustive analysis was carried out to determine their most prominent actors. For this, parameters such as the number of citations, number of documents, h-index were used; and in the case of country category, the number of productive authors and institutions was also considered as a parameter. On the other hand, this document carries out a systematic review analysis of the identified literature covering the main types of isolation systems investigated, key findings, and future research directions. The study revealed that China is the country with the most publications, followed by the United States, and in turn, their research is relevant, so they are the most prominent countries in this field of study. Furthermore, the study highlighted the most important authors and institutions in this field. Research related to this area was mainly published in journals such as Engineering Structures, Earthquake Engineering And Structural Dynamics, and Soil Dynamics And Earthquake Engineering.
