“Y viéndola un recinto”: la Lima amurallada en <i>Vida de Santa Rosa de Santa María</i> <i/> de Luis Antonio de Oviedo y Herrera

In 1687, Lima underwent a major transformation with the construction of an eleven-kilometer-long wall surrounding the city. This event quickly found its way into the literary works of the time, including Luis Antonio de Luis Antonio de Oviedo y Herrera's epic poem Vida de Santa Rosa de Santa María (Madrid, 1711). This article examines how the construction of the wall shaped the portrayal of the first American saint and the Lima community in the poem.
