¿Cómo debería implementarse el marco teórico en la investigación cuantitativa?

The theoretical framework is a section of the research methodology that is given little emphasis in the different scenarios of the academic field. Its importance lies in being the foundation and theoretical support of an investigation. That is why the objective of this article was to analyze and systematize information to implement a theoretical framework within quantitative research. For the study, the qualitative method has been used accompanied by a documentary-type design. The analysis of the literature was carried out through the mechanism of a systematic review of documents from databases such as WoS, SCOPUS, Scielo, Redalyc, and other high-impact journals. The analysis has allowed the collection of valuable information to implement the theoretical framework. It has allowed identifying the functions, the levels of abstraction, and the process of construction of the theoretical framework in 8 methodical steps and it was possible to identify 7 errors that are incurred when developing it. It is concluded that to start the construction of the theoretical framework, it is essential to identify the problem and the variables; that will have to be fed with information from reliable databases. Likewise, thematic dispersion unrelated to the variables must be avoided.
