Terapia Focalizada en Emociones en Parejas con Diversidad Funcional: Desafíos y Estrategias Clínicas Basadas en la Evidencia
Resumen
The aim of this review article is to analyze the challenges and evidence-based clinical strategies associated with the use of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) in couples with functional diversity. Using the PRISMA methodology, a systematic review of scientific literature published between 2013 and 2024 was conducted, selecting 25 relevant studies from recognized academic databases such as Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, and PsycINFO. Three analytical categories were defined: emotional and relational barriers, therapeutic effectiveness of EFT, and disability-adapted intervention approaches. The findings reveal that couples with functional diversity face structural, emotional, and social obstacles that affect their intimacy and emotional connection. EFT, when applied with contextual adaptations, promotes emotional validation, attachment reconstruction, and the strengthening of the relational bond. However, the need for greater training for therapists in inclusive approaches and intersectional models was evident. This review provides conceptual and practical tools for more equitable, comprehensive, and evidence-based therapeutic care, highlighting the urgency of incorporating the disability perspective in clinical work with couples.
