Description

This funding will help organize the first Peruvian Sign Language Processing (LSP) Workshop. Our goal through this workshop is to train members of the Peruvian Deaf Community on topics such as technology for the deaf and hard of hearing and analysis of grammar and annotation processes. We expect that these participants become consultants for sign language processing research or any new initiative to build technology for deaf people. We are an interdisciplinary team of computer scientists, linguists, interpreters, and deaf consultants who aim to analyze sign language and build sign language technology and corpora for and along with deaf communities. The expected applicants to this workshop will be deaf students of any career interested in the topic and Peruvian Sign Language interpreters.
