Abstract

One of the main reasons why students do not feel engaged on their school is that they do not know the activities or initiatives created for them. A similar problem occurs with faculty and staff when the internal communication is not effective. One of the problems is that the school delivers the information without considering the end user. The means of communication could not match what the user likes. To solve this problem, we created University Mobile Assistant (UMA), a tool that have been created following the natural process of a startup and is now being used in a young and prestigious engineering university in Peru. UMA started as an engineering project in 2016 and, after a year of incubation, working closely with the end users and the internal communication area of the university as a possible client, it was selected as the official internal communication tool in 2018. UMA considers interaction analytics and works closely with students, faculty and staff, as end users, and the university as early adopter. This tool has helped the community to be engaged in the activities and also to increase the pride of being part of the Universidad de Ingenieria y Tecnologia due to the constant inspiring news.
