Transition from UNE 166000 to ISO 56000 Standards: A Strategic Framework for Innovation Management

The internationalization of innovation management practices has accelerated the shift from nationally developed standards, such as Spain's UNE 166000 series, to globally harmonized frameworks like the ISO 56000 family. This paper examines the technical and operational transition between these two reference models, with the objective of assessing their degree of alignment and the organizational implications of migration. A structured comparative methodology was applied, combining a correspondence matrix with a survey of expert practitioners. Although limited to five participants from a single country, the sample provided qualified insights into adoption practices. Results demonstrate high conceptual convergence in terminology, system design, and strategic intelligence. Nevertheless, differences in scope and implementation depth - particularly in partnership governance, intellectual property management, and evaluation practices - require targeted adaptation. Expert views highlight leadership commitment, process integration, and personnel training as enabling conditions. In addition, success indicators such as maturity assessment levels, number of projects aligned with ISO 56002, and staff training outcomes are proposed to monitor progress. The study delivers a strategic framework that supports institutions in realigning their innovation systems with international standards, thereby strengthening innovation maturity, institutional credibility, and global interoperability.
