Abstract

This article presents a descriptive and comparative analysis about the policy advances on social responsibility of university in Brazil, Spain and Peru, dealing with the different meanings that this term encloses, how it can be implemented and what will be the best way to assess it. By means of the analysis of legal documents and of the academic literature on this matter, the author presents a reflexion about the theoretical and technical premises that underlie its possible inclusion in the public policies about higher education starting from the experience of Brazil that began in 2004, the Spanish University Strategy of 2015 and the Peruvian University Law implemented in 2014. Based on the refered experiencies, the author points out convergences and peculiarities that can be taken into account for the national higher education systems of Latin America in order to establish their own legislation in accordance with the international dynamics.
