Abstract

The influence of heat treatments on the susceptibility to intergranular corrosion of AISI-321 steel is studied by using the EPR method (electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation). If it is shown that a solubilization treatment at 1.373 K gives the material a better resistance against intergranular attack than higher temperatures treatments. A subsequent stabilization heat treatment at 1.073 K gives the best resistance against this type of corrosion to the studied steel.
