Abstract

Usability is taking an essential role in the software development process. Nowadays, many teams incorporate methods to verify if the graphical user interfaces of a software product in development, meet the required degree of usability. However, most of these methods, instead of providing a numerical value about the accomplishment of this quality attribute, only give support to obtain a list of aspects that can be redesigned to increase the usability. Quantitatively measuring the ease of use is useful for companies which need to compare themselves with their main competitors, or when there are several choice design proposals for their website. In this study, we present the redesign of a questionnaire developed from the theoretical basis of two highly recognized sources, which define the concept of usability in a set of principles. The new assessment tool is a five-point version of the previous work with 60 items which attempt to cover all the spectrum of usability.
