Abstract

This paper reports on the paradigm shifting processes produced and activated by the institution of the first Peruvian laptop ensemble in 2019: Ensamble de Laptops de la Universidad Nacional de Música - ELUNM. This ensemble has been stablished within the context of the newly inaugurated Laboratorio de Música Electroacústica y Arte Sonoro at the Universidad Nacional de Música (ex Conservatorio Nacional de Música), and represents the partial results of specific actions taken for a period of ten years (2010 – 2020) for the introduction of themes related to technology based sound arts in Peru at different fronts, including public and private institutions. In this paper we present the activities of the ELUNM as they represent the successes and failures in a process of establishing sustainable development patterns for teaching musical technology in a country with a long history of shortcoming regarding the implementation of technology based musical practices.
