Abstract

The testamentary instructions and will left by Pedro de Peralta Barnuevo have long been known by scholars dedicated to studying the life and works of the famous Lima erudite. However, both documents remain unpublished, likely because they are considered of little interest. In contrast, this study argues that both texts complement each other in shedding light on Peralta’s complex role in Lima society towards the end of his life.
