Abstract
There are many reasons to associate the contemporary crisis with the metaphorical situation referred to by the name Babel, including its apocalyptic connotations. And there are equally valid reasons to inquire about the direction that the idea of freedom has been taking. However, regarding both Babel and freedom, there are multiple interpretations. The article proposes an initial hermeneutical framework on the complexity of facets of the Babel metaphor and a reformulation of the concept of freedom in that context, inspired by the three-dimensional vision originally suggested by Hegel.
