Abstract

The observations regarding site and topographic effects in the main population centers affected by the earthquake occured in southern Peru was discussed. The main shock ground motions recorded in the event were also reported. It was found that despite large magnitude of the earthquake and the wide area it affected, very few strong ground motion recordings were made during the main shock of the earthquake.
