Abstract

In this paper, a new fractional order IIalpha controller combined with a Smith predictor for effective water distribution in a main irrigation canal pool is designed. A new tuning method, based on frequency techniques, is proposed, providing to the controlled system the same nominal behavior than a conventional PI controller with Smith Predictor and more robustness to variations in the system gain.
