Abstract

Computing curricular guidelines often play a crucial role in shaping educational programs, ensuring they remain relevant to industry needs and technological advancements. Curricular guidelines or recommendations have existed for many years and are used in schools, colleges, and universities worldwide. A global search of formal curricula guidelines in all professions was conducted for comparison with the existing computing curricula guidelines. Existing computing curricula recommendations were reviewed, primarily those from ACM and IEEE. The effectiveness of formal computing curricular guidelines will be determined by analyzing their adoption, adaptability, and the effect on student learning. The recommendations from this study, as well as these perspectives and experiences, may guide and support the efforts of global educators who are designing or redesigning their computing curricula.
