N2 - This chapter presents the results of an investigation that aimed to identify the manifestations of symbolic gender violence and its relationship with emotional intelligence, as a protective factor against it, in 225 women from Metropolitan Lima and Callao (Peru). For this, a quantitative methodology research was carried out, which allowed exploring the relationship between the subdimensions of both variables. The results indicate that higher levels of emotional intelligence, specifically the dimension of emotional perception, present an inverse relationship with the dimensions of symbolic violence, acting as a protector against this type of gender violence against women. Likewise, differences were found in all the sociodemographic variables analyzed. These results are encouraging for the approach, prevention, and intervention of gender violence, in a country in which it is very present.
