Abstract

Deficient public transport affects life quality and the economic progress of modern cities. As it is difficult to improve public transport systems, in this paper we propose an application for bus passengers. The design of this mobile app is part of an ongoing project that aims to improve the public transport experience in Lima city, the capital of Perú. We envision a cloud-based community-driven mobile app that updates passengers with real information about buses. The presented information would be provided by and delivered to both users and public transport companies. With this intention in mind, we conducted a formative test with potential users. As a result, we created personas inspired by the interview participants. In addition, we built an interactive prototype in pursuance of conducting an expert heuristic evaluation and summative tests with real users. Finally, we provide conclusions and future work ideas.
