Abstract
Typically solid state nuclear trace detectors are used inside diffusion chambers as passive 222Rn monitors for indoor measurements. These monitors have been successfully applied in environments with certain ranges of temperature and humidity. High humidity conditions can influence in 222Rn measurements when using passive monitors. A type II Lr-115 detector located inside a non-commercial monitor, monitor G2, based on a double-walled polypropylene diffusion chamber was used. The air contained between the walls can mitigate the influence of ambient conditions on the 222Rn measurement. In this investigation, the performance of the G2 monitor was experimentally evaluated under normal and extreme environmental conditions for the measurement of 222Rn. Characteristic parameters of the G2 monitor were estimated, such as the calibration factor and the detection limit.
