Abstract

Growth Mindset is an emerging skill related to the development of soft skills in engineering education. However, there is little evidence about the development of growth mindset in engineering students. This study focuses on measuring the levels of growth mindset in first-year engineering students in a Peruvian university. The study is based on a questionnaire applied to 211 engineering students. The results show that: (a) most of the participants of the study have the growth mindset skill (b) there are no gender differences regarding growth mindset (c) resilience is the most important dimension in growth mindset, and (d) self-esteem and tenacity are two attributes with lower scores. This study present new evidence about growth mindset in engineering students.
