Abstract

A core problem in small constructions is basically controlling the space reserved for the storage of materials. At Lima, Peru, we made use of 4D in "Edificio La Floresta" with Marcan S.A. 4D help us to visualize not only the construction sequence of the project "Edificio La Floresta", but also materials flow at field: with the 4D model we could visualize availability of space everyday during the project, and using a worksheet that was in charge of the automation of re-planning for the 4D program we improved even volume requirement and the schedule of materials required; by this, we controlled the space destined for storage of materials with order, reducing notably stock and transporting of materials, and also increasing productivity by reducing interferences. © 2006 Taylor & Francis Group.
