Abstract

We consider a model for the x-dependence of the quark distributions in the proton. Within the context of simple statistical assumptions, we obtain the parton densities in the infinite momentum frame. In a second step lowest order QCD corrections are incorporated to these distributions. Crude, but reasonable, agreement with experiment is found for the F2, valence and q, {Mathematical expression} distributions for x≳0.2. © 1989 Springer-Verlag.
