Estudio paisajístico de los aspectos biofísicos y antrópicos en dos espacios urbanos de la ribera del río Rímac en Lima, Perú

The objective of this paper is to describe and contrast the biophysical and anthropic aspects in two urban spaces adjacent to the Rímac River in the city of Lima: the Malecón de la Amistad, and the viewpoints of the old Reserved Zone project of the Rimac River. The approach is qualitative with a descriptive scope and the landscape analysis criteria of Castillo et al. (2014) to highlight the forms of use enabled by anthropic intervention in relation to the natural ecosystem. The results suggest that these spaces have been intervened to direct the movement of their visitors, but in both cases the material elements of the urban scene show a precarious integration between the biophysical and the anthropic, which reflects a contradictory interventionism that imposes and cancels various forms of use for visitors, exacerbating the spatial fragmentation.

Muchas civilizaciones hoy desaparecidas han dejado en el suelo la presencia de su ausencia. El suelo del desierto peruano constituye un terreno fértil para preservar estas presencias, lo que ha motivado a artistas y habitantes a intervenirlo, dejando huellas que no son solo físicas, sino también sociales y culturales. Al actuar en este paisaje, se deja una traza indeleble, por lo que las decisiones proyectuales deben de ser cuidadosamente meditadas. En el caso del museo de sitio de la cultura Paracas, la relación de interdependencia con el paisaje desértico, expresada en su materialidad, cromaticidad, geometría y composición de suelo, entendidos como elementos dinámicos, propone una nueva mirada a los conceptos fundacionales de la arquitectura.

Visual Representations of the Loreto Landscape: From Authenticity to the Sense of Place

There is a significant visual tradition that, through painting and photography, has represented the Amazonian region of Loreto and the city of Iquitos. By discussing the concepts of landscape, authenticity, and sense of place, this article aims to analyze this tradition and new emerging forms of representation. To this end, canonical images have been analyzed and more than fifteen contemporary artists have been interviewed. It is argued that: i) this tradition is anchored in landscape painting, ii) that the authenticity of these images is achieved through their ability to mimic the landscape depicted, and iii) that artists have emerged who deconstruct previous landscapes, explicitly destabilizing hegemonic visual regimes. The article concludes with the need to shift from an emphasis on authenticity to an understanding of the embodied senses of place from which visual representations emerge.
