Item type:Publication, Do executioners have souls? La última tarde and La hora final: Representations of the "Insurgent" character in Peruvian fiction cinema(Springer, 2020-12-17)This chapter identifies the different approaches to representing the "insurgent" in Peruvian fiction cinema, highlighting the tensions between cinema as a cultural industry and the national discussion of memory about the armed conflict of 1980-2000. The complexity of the characters in La última tarde [One Last Afternoon] (2017) by Joel Calero and La hora final [The Last Hour] (2017) by Eduardo Mendoza is analyzed in comparison to other representations of the "insurgent" in the country's cinematic tradition, and in the relation to the discourses on memory that form part of the paradigm of human rights. It also discusses the limitations that the production and exhibition conditions of fiction films in Peru bring to the cinematic representation of this specific character type. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Educación sin república. Hitos de la educación peruana en el último siglo(Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, 2020-12-18)Retrospective of Peruvian education in the last century, which distinguishes four demarcating milestones: 1. Education as a privilege in oligarchic society; 2. The crisis of the oligarchic state and a new order in education; 3. The counter-reform and the commodification of education and social rights; and 4. The civilizational crisis and the questioning of the neoliberal educational model. The article makes a reading of the relationship of education with power, with society and with the process of transformation of the country. Starting from a combined analysis of five components, a general and articulating interpretation of what happened in Peruvian education in the last century is attempted. These components are: political time, the role of the State, the right to education and the priority of education on the agenda. It is possible to visualize the advances and setbacks of a process that does not follow a constant progressive path and that lacks an institutional and democratic base. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, ¿Dónde está el cordero? Cinco poemas de Adriane Garcia(Latin American Literary Review Press, 2020-06-16)The five poems translated here are part of A bandeja de Salomé [Salome’s tray], Brazilian poet Adriane Garcia’s unpublished book. These poems let know some of its most important characteristics: irony, subtlety and intertextuality when the author rewrites different stories of the Holy Bible. For example, as the reader will notice, Garcia’s critical vision emphasizes on public roles of women in those stories. Therefore, publishing these poems in bilingual, Garcia’s work increases the scene of Brazilian poetry and literature in United States. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, The conspicuous colour blue—‘lapis lazuli’—in the history of art(2024-04-01)Colour plays a fundamental role in human perception and its effects on cognition and behaviour have intrigued generations of researchers. The intent of this two-part paper is to provide a wider understanding of the history and evolution from its early beginnings. It also analyses the diverse characteristics of plant-based colours and minerals that produce this intriguing colour called, ‘blue’. Although a large amount of research has been conducted in this domain, the psychological processes through which colour operates, have not been explored comprehensively. As a result, the field has observed certain conflicting results. The first part of this article studies the colour ‘blue’ as a pigment. Besides, it also offers some early development of the colour ‘blue’ in the light spectrum set by the initial developments in the history of science. The second part examines how ‘blue’ has long proven a problem for artists. There are a few materials that are blue in their natural state, that can serve as pigments for painters. During the Renaissance period, artists used a pigment called natural ultramarine (Lapis-Lazuli), lauded for its rich and striking appearance to capture the great beyond, this mineral was introduced by Venetian merchants and brought originally from the mines of Afghanistan, located in the remote province of Badakhshan. It is very common when religion, science, and the arts meet to apply philosophies which are interwoven around historical and social events to present science as human, relevant and a lively endeavour. Finally, this paper brings to a conclusion a short briefing of the works of two of the most expressive artists, Giotto and Titian, and the usage of lapis lazuli - (Ultramarine) in the development of their colour palette.1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, “El dios cansado”: La muerte de Dios y el triunfo de la poesía en la escritura de José María Eguren(Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina, 2024-06-30)This article analyzes the religious subtext of “El dios cansado”, one of the best-known poems by José María Eguren (1874-1942). The analysis focuses on the representation of the divine in this text and the multiple enunciative operations from which a critique of the image of the Christian divinity is formulated. Within the framework of a reflection on nihilism and the crisis of enlightened rationalism, it tries to demonstrate how in the analyzed poem Eguren’s writing assumes the Nietzschean topic of the death of God to reinterpret the image of the divine, reveal the inconsistency of the hegemonic discourses and reconsider the place of poetic saying in front of the sacred. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Implementación de un plan de ecoeficiencia en la construcción del túnel en el Mega Puerto de Chancay(Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, 2024-12-13)The implementation of an eco-efficiency strategy in the construction of the tunnel at the Chancay megaport was the main objective of the research presented. The sample consisted of 92 employees of the company. Additionally, the study was applied and used a non-experimental design. The study showed that between January and May 2022, there was a consumption of 79 234.402 kW of electricity, 6 360.76 gallons of fuel, 8.124 m³ of water, 19 000 kg of paper, 7 units of ink or toner, and an average of 3 209.2 kg of solid waste. After implementing an eco-efficiency plan that included training and other strategies to achieve the objectives, a significant reduction was observed: an average of 27.13% in electricity consumption, 7.16% in fuel, 23.14% in water, 21.05% in paper, 2.85% in ink and toner, and 3.21% in solid waste. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Política cultural en contextos de crisis: las encrucijadas de la Política Nacional de Cultura del Perú al 2030(Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, 2023-10-15)This article has as its central argument that cultural policy and management in Peru occurs in a context of disjointed dynamics and precarious consolidation, which destabilizes, but at the same time requires, an articulating narrative of its guiding framework, the National Cultural Policy 2030. In particular, it is argued that the scenario that defines current cultural policy and management in Peru is characterized, on the one hand, by notable advances from both civil society and the public and private sector in different aspects of the cultural field, as well as as well as the affirmation of consensus in relation to new approaches for the development of the cultural sector. But also, and simultaneously, characterized by an institutional-administrative uncertainty, the multiple crises and the absence of political horizons in relation to the field of culture. This results in a National Cultural Policy 2030 (PNC 2030) that is based on necessary premises and approaches in tune with the global cultural agenda, which is based on solid evidence and that outlines necessary objectives for strengthening the sector in the country; but which is uncertain regarding its sustainability, results and social legitimacy. Therefore, this article suggests that the main challenge of the PNC 2030 —and cultural management in Peru— is to act in a scenario without guarantees and, from there, recover its ethical-political dimension using the tools of public administration. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
