Departamento de Economía, 2012)The research works on economic inequality in Latin America have both highlighted the high and persistent nature of this phenomenon in the sub-continent, as well as they have postulated its historical origin. In line with this approach we propose in this document that the inequality in Peru has been originated in the colonial period. But it is not easy to maintain a historical quantitative record of it, reason why we apply in this document the demographic information provided by the colonial and republican censuses. This tool permits to devise a chronological framework of the inequality evolution in the Republican Peru, which consists of three stages: the period of post-independence, between 1821-1890, marked by a decrease of inequality, the oligarchic period, between 1890-1940, marked by the emergence of a middle class and a complication of the pyramid of wealth and the period 1940-1990, marked by the worsening of inequality, as a consequence of the depreciation of work, caused by the demographic explosion and the decline in economic growth since the seventies.1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas, Económicas, Políticas y Antropológicas - CISEPA, 2007)This article tries to rescue the history of the mining of mercury of Huancavelica in the period of the post independence. For it we review the efforts realized put again in massive development the big mine of mercury that one day was considered to be “the jewel of the crown” Spaniard. During his epoch of major production, between the ends of the XVIth century and the middle of the XVIIth, input came to supply of mercury the two big American virreinatos. But during the XIXth century, Peru should have imported mercury before the bankruptcy of the local production. The attempts of refloating the mine, in general lines failed, and she did not have a production again in big scale until 1915. Our article investigates in the reasons of such a defeat, pointing towards the institutional factors that blocked the flow of investments towards the recovery of Huancavelica. Another type of mining spread on the other hand: that of the humaches or indigenous miners. Simultaneously that supported an important quantities of production of mercury throughout the XIXth century, these blockaded the entry of the “modern mining” for one century.1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Departamento de Economía, 2003)What was, twenty five years ago, the image about Peruvian economic history during its independent period? Which are the changes in it now and which the factors of that changes? My argue is that in the period of last twenty five years, the economic history of Peru, but especially its republican period, was dominated by the Dependency Theory frame. This insight suffered several attacks recently, especially since liberal perspective, but its main lines are stand up yet. In the last part of this article, I offer some reasons to explain the strong and durable of dependency approach to explain the economic history of Peru. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Departamento de Economía, 2014)The eighteenth century was one of robust economic growth in the Viceroyalty of Peru. But both the chronology, the roots of this growth are imprecise. The beginning of the expansion is usually located towards the end of the great epidemic of 1718-1723, which affected the indigenous population of the southern highlands, causing severe problems to immediate trade flow and the supply of workers for the plantations and mines in subsequent years. But others have pointed to the effect that certain measures were related to the mining tax and the introduction of new technologies in this sector, towards 1736-1745. The end of the growth cycle would be located around 1800 or, in any case, during the first decade of the nineteenth century. It thus would be a growth cycle that would have lasted about three quarters of a century, which would make it one of the longest of the Peruvian economic history. The role that this process had the Bourbon reforms is another topic of debate. In this paper I intend to order the relevant information to the process of economic growth, as well as reflect on its determinants. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

José Toribio Polo ciertamente es un ejemplo de esto último.1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
